The workflow 01 / 04

How to transcribe Marathi audio to text

Four steps. One browser. Start with the original recording and finish with text you can edit, share or publish.

  1. Upload the recording

Add your Marathi audio or video to your account. Use the original file rather than a screen recording of its playback.

    File preparation tips

MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4 and MOV are common starting points. Keep speech audible and avoid repeated compression, which removes sound detail without improving recognition.

  2. Select Marathi

Choose Marathi as the language. Set the recording type and a relevant industry model from the options available for that language.

    For conversations

Enable speaker identification for interviews, meetings and calls. It separates speaker turns; it does not independently verify a participant's real name.

  3. Let AI do the typing

The speech recognition engine converts the recording into a punctuated transcript. For video, it processes the audio track.

    What affects processing?

Recording length, audio quality and current service demand affect processing time. Text displayed on a video is not transcribed unless someone speaks it.

  4. Review, then export

Listen back, correct the Marathi text and check speaker turns. Download a document or an SRT or VTT subtitle file.

    A useful final check

Verify names, amounts, dates and key quotations. Preview subtitles in your video player to check timing and Devanagari rendering before publication.

Open the tips in each step for practical guidance. The transcript remains editable before you download it.

More than voice typing 02 / 04

A transcription workspace, not just a text box

Long recordings need more than a microphone button. SpeechText.AI brings context settings, speaker turns, editing and useful exports into the same workflow.

Context before conversion

Give specialist vocabulary a better starting point

A finance call and a classroom lecture use different language. SpeechText.AI offers industry-specific models that account for professional vocabulary, rather than treating every recording as a general conversation.

  • Finance
  • Medicine
  • Law
  • Education

Model choices depend on the selected language. Use the options shown for Marathi in your account.

Match the recording type

Tell the engine whether you're transcribing a lecture, interview, meeting or phone call. The recording setting gives it context beyond the language alone.

Keep track of speakers

Speaker identification separates a conversation into readable turns. Review the labels against the audio, especially where people interrupt each other.

Edit Marathi in your browser

Listen to the recording and correct the transcript in the same workspace. Fix a person's name without retyping the whole interview.

Export something useful

Take the text into Word, share a PDF or create SRT and VTT captions. You get a working file, not text trapped inside an app.

Work across 50+ languages

Use the same service for Marathi and other supported languages. Choose the correct language for each recording instead of rebuilding your workflow.

Find the passage you need

Search the transcript for a topic, name or phrase. A long recording becomes material you can return to without listening from the beginning.

Read sentences, not word streams

Automatic punctuation makes the first draft easier to read. Check sentence boundaries during review, particularly around pauses and interruptions.

Support for many languages is not a promise of automatic language switching within every file. For mixed Marathi-English recordings, follow the language and review guidance below.

Language details 03 / 04

Marathi in. Marathi out.

Marathi transcription writes the spoken words in Devanagari. It is not an English translation, and it is not Roman-script Marathi typing.

Select Marathi, not Hindi

Marathi and Hindi share Devanagari, but they are different languages. Their vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation are not interchangeable. Start with the Marathi language setting, then check the words against the recording. Pay attention to names, local place names and letter distinctions such as ल / ळ and न / ण. A sentence that looks fluent still needs to match what the speaker said.

Mixed Marathi and English? Check the switch.

Office conversations often move between Marathi, English product names, abbreviations and full English sentences. Review those passages closely. Check brand names and technical terms in their intended spelling, rather than accepting a similar-sounding word. For a long section in another language, split the recording and process that section with the matching language setting.

Test your speakers, not an ideal demo

A quiet interview in Pune and a busy field recording present different challenges. Regional pronunciation, room echo, microphone distance and overlapping voices all affect recognition. Before processing a large archive, transcribe a short sample from the same speakers and recording setup. Then compare it with the audio, including names, quantities and a negation such as नाही, which changes the meaning of a statement.

Check your account for current file-size and recording-length limits. Video transcription uses the spoken audio track. If the video is silent, on-screen text is not a substitute for speech.

Marathi transcription questions, answered

Ask a product question

How do I convert Marathi audio to text online?

Create a SpeechText.AI account and upload your audio or video file. Select Marathi as the recording language, choose the recording type and any relevant model available for that language, then start transcription. Review the Devanagari text in the browser editor and export a document or subtitle file.

Will the transcript be in Marathi or English?

Marathi transcription produces Marathi text in Devanagari. It does not automatically translate the recording into English or convert the words into Roman-script Marathi. Translation changes the language; transcription writes down the speech.

How accurate is Marathi AI transcription?

The engine's up-to-99% figure is not a Marathi-specific benchmark or a guarantee for every file. Audio quality, regional pronunciation, overlapping voices and specialist terms affect the result. Test a representative sample and review names, numbers and important passages against the recording.

Can I transcribe a recording that mixes Marathi and English?

Select Marathi for a Marathi-led recording and check the passages that switch into English. Support for multiple languages does not guarantee accurate automatic switching within one file. For long sections in another language, create separate files and use the matching language setting.

Can I convert a Marathi MP3 or MP4 file into a Word document?

Yes. Upload the MP3 audio or MP4 video, select Marathi and transcribe it. Review the text, then choose DOCX to download a Word document. For video files, SpeechText.AI transcribes the spoken audio track, not text displayed on screen.

How do I create Marathi subtitles in SRT or VTT format?

Upload your video, choose Marathi and generate the transcript. Correct the wording, export an SRT or VTT file and import it into your video editor or publishing platform. Preview the captions to check timing, line breaks and the display of Devanagari characters before publishing.

Can I try Marathi speech to text for free?

Yes. SpeechText.AI offers a free trial. Check the current trial allowance in your account. Paid plans start at US$9 per month with 240 transcription minutes; higher-volume plans offer up to 2,700 minutes.

How are my Marathi recordings protected?

Files are transferred over a secure connection and processed on EU-hosted servers. The standard transcription workflow is automated, and you can delete recordings and transcripts from your account. SpeechText.AI operates in line with GDPR requirements. Read the Privacy Policy and obtain permission to process the recording.

Is this a live Marathi voice typing tool?

This page covers transcription of uploaded audio and video, not live microphone dictation. Save your voice recording as an audio file, upload it and select Marathi to create editable text.

Is there an API for automated transcription workflows?

Yes. SpeechText.AI provides a speech recognition API for websites, apps and automated workflows. Read the API documentation for supported language options, input requirements and current limits before integrating Marathi transcription.
